A write4kicks Workshop can be a freestanding event or an excellent addition to an Arts or Activities Week. Either way, a fantastic opportunity to encourage interest in Creative Writing at your school.

We are generally asked to run creative writing workshops for students who fall into at least one of the following groups:

  • Gifted and Talented English students.
  • Students with a particular interest in / aptitude for creative writing.
  • Students who are interested in going into professional areas such as:
    Journalism, Prose or Poetry Writing, Screen- or Scriptwriting.

However, our workshops can also be extremely beneficial to students for whom none of the above applies, but who:

  • Have low self-esteem or issues with confidence.
  • Have been involved in bullying or are the victims of bullying.
  • Are school refusers or have difficulty complying with the behaviour code.
  • Have been involved in anti-social behaviour such as: fighting, vandalism or drug-taking.
  • Have witnessed or experienced traumatic events.

The content of our workshops is tailor-made to fit the particular requirements of each individual school. Sample sessions include:

  • A general introduction to creative writing.
  • A more in-depth look at a particular genre of writing, such as: The Novel, Poetry, Screenwriting.
  • A themed writing session, covering topics such as: bullying or drug-taking.
  • Building confidence through autobiography and team writing.
