Many of the students who attend our creative writing residentials have their places funded from the Gifted & Talented budget at their schools. Some are sponsored by the organisation AimHigher. We suggest that prospective applicants speak to both the Head of English and the Gifted & Talented Co-ordinator at their school to find out whether either of these options are available.

Bursary places

Write4kicks is committed to making creative writing opportunities as widely available to young people as possible. To this end we offer a number of full and partial places on all of our residential courses.

Requests for bursary places must be made in writing by either a teacher or the parent/carer of the young person in question and sent to the address below. Please outline the young person’s reasons for requiring financial assistance and provide any evidence or documentation that you feel supports the application.

A bursary may only be applied for once a place on a course has been offered. Although we do ask that your intention to apply for a bursary be made clear on the application, this is for administrative purposes only. Decisions regarding the allocation of places is in no way influenced by the applicant’s ability to fund them.

Decisions regarding who receives a bursary are made based upon need and the writing potential shown in the original application.

In summer 2007 we partially or fully funded seven places.
